Description

A Valpolicella wine tasting in a medieval court at Fumane: walk the vineyard, climb the 1300 tower, see the cellar and taste four organic red wines.

This Valpolicella wine tasting in a medieval court is held at an estate in Fumane, and it starts well before the glass. You walk through the vineyard, then climb the tower dating from 1300 for a view over Fumane and the estate. Depending on how busy the rooms are, you may also see one with period decor.

The visit goes on to the tavern, where a huge fireplace is the setting for a selection of the prizes the winery has won, and to the bottling room, where you learn how the machinery works. In the cellar, the guide explains winemaking step by step, from the fermenter to refinement in steel and wood.

You finish in the tasting area with four Valpolicella red wines, among them a Ripasso Classico Superiore and a Recioto Classico, served with breadsticks and taralli. The whole visit takes about ninety minutes.

  • Vineyard and cellar visit with a live guide

Children and those who do not drink wine join for free. A food board can be ordered on site. The winery cannot cater for vegans, lactose intolerance or gluten-free needs, so check before you book.
