Description
The 2-hour boat tour from Peschiera del Garda covers the southern part of the lake in one loop, with an experienced skipper at the helm and no stops on the way. You see the shore from the water, among villages, villas and green hills.
The route follows the eastern side first. Lazise comes first, known for its old Scaliger walls and its harbour, then Bardolino, with its lakeside promenade and the vineyards around it. After that the boat reaches the village of Garda, in its bay under the mountains, and Punta San Vigilio, a little headland with a historic harbour and villas in the greenery, close to the Bay of the Sirens.
Further north you pass close to Isola del Garda, the biggest island of Garda, where a neo-Gothic villa in the Venetian style stands among gardens that reach the water. The way back goes by the Sirmione peninsula, where you see the Scaligero Castle and the Grotte di Catullo, an archaeological site from Roman times.
The trip fits couples, families and friends travelling together, and it packs a lot of the lake into two hours. You cannot get off the boat, and there is no restroom, food or drink on board.
