Description
This Adige River rafting trip in Valpolicella starts at the Albino Armani winery, where the guides meet the group, hand out the equipment and explain the basics: how to paddle, the commands, the safety rules. Then the current of Italy's second-longest river takes over, with vineyards lining the bank.
The route runs for 9 kilometres. Between strokes you can look for the camouflaged forts on the hillsides, swim in the current, dive in or join a water fight. The guides tell the stories of the river and the valley, from the ancient Romans to Napoleon and the Great War.
After a bend shaped like an S, the river enters the Ceraino Gorge, a canyon where the mountains drop steeply into the water, and the ride ends at the landing point only a few kilometres from Verona. A transfer then brings you back to where you left your car.
