Description
The Verona art and legend walking tour covers about two and a half hours in the city of Romeo and Juliet and its thousands of years of history, with a local guide.
Verona is often visited in passing, and this art and legend walking tour invites you to stay longer in a city that goes well beyond the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. A local guide leads about two and a half hours of explanations that are informative but informal, mixing history and art.
The street plan goes back to the Roman imperial era and was enriched by medieval, Renaissance and modern buildings. The Adige bends around the centre and encloses atmospheric streets once frequented by knights and merchants, lined with stately palaces frescoed by great artists.
- Piazza Bra, the largest square in the city, and the Arena, the Roman amphitheatre now used for big music events
- Juliet's Balcony
- Sant'Anastasia, a church with a famous fresco by Pisanello
- Scaliger Tombs, the monumental tombs of the medieval lords
- Porta Borsari, an ancient city entrance
The guides are Verona residents and speak English, Italian, French and Russian. They can also point you to restaurants, bars and shops. Admission tickets are not included.
