Description
Verona is known for its reds, so a sparkling wine tasting in Verona comes as a pleasant detour: the area has its own lively tradition of local bubbles. The setting is a historic, cosy delicatessen a step from Castelvecchio, in a quiet corner of the old city.
Your host is Nadia, the owner and sommelier. She pours a selection that runs from lively Charmat wines to the finer Metodo Classico, with local varieties such as Durello and Garganega alongside Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each glass arrives with a canapé chosen to bring out its flavours, and between sips she explains the character and history of the wines of Verona and answers whatever you ask.
