Description
The walk opens at the Roman Arena, where a local guide leads you through the corridors and galleries and tells how gladiators once fought here (the entry is part of the skip-the-line option). This Verona walking tour with Arena tickets then leaves the amphitheatre behind and heads into the old centre, with a small group and a licensed guide at the front.
From Piazza Bra the route follows streets lined with palaces and historic facades, with a little time left to take in the atmosphere on your own. Next comes Piazza delle Erbe, the city's old marketplace, framed by medieval and Renaissance buildings. Tasting and shopping there are not part of the guided visit, but you can try them by yourself.
The walk ends with a different angle on the city: a one-way cable car ride up to Saint Peter's Hill. From the top you look over terracotta roofs and the bend of the Adige, then you stroll back down along the river. The whole tour lasts between two and a half and three hours.
