Description

The Museo Miniscalchi-Erizzo is a house museum in Verona's historic center, on Via San Mammaso: a late Gothic palazzo with a frescoed facade, lived in for centuries by the same family and open to the public since 1990 with its collections of art and curiosities.

Its sixteen rooms hold drawings by old masters, mostly Venetian, Renaissance bronze statuettes, an archaeology room and an armory with many parade suits of armor. One room recreates the cabinet of curiosities of the scholar Ludovico Moscardo, author of a history of Verona.

Before going in, it's worth looking up: on the facade a follower of Veronese painted the Banquet of Damocles in the late 16th century and, on the top floor, a Judgment of Solomon in monochrome. The collections came into the house through marriages, such as the one with a Moscardo and the one with an Erizzo, a Venetian patrician.
