Description

This Valpolicella wine tasting tour walks through a family vineyard with vines over 100 years old, then pairs five wines, olive oil and local produce on a veranda facing the rows.

The Valpolicella wine tasting tour begins on foot, in the vineyards of a family estate near Pescantina, with the area's traditions explained among the rows. Sofia, daughter of the owner Gianluca, guides you to the vineyard her grandfather Mario planted in 1967 and chose never to uproot, for the sake of better wine.

More than three generations have looked after the same plants, tended with care for the environment and biodiversity. Close by grows a peach orchard planted in 1960, a reminder of the fruit tradition of Pescantina.

Once the walk is over you settle on the veranda that looks onto the vines. The five wines share the table with extra virgin olive oil from Lake Garda, fresh bread, the farm's jams, red wine jellies and pickled vegetables, plus cured meats and cheeses from around Verona.

  • a sparkling Rosè Brioso
  • a Rosato Veronese
  • a Corvina Veronese
  • a Valpolicella Superiore Classico
  • an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

Plan on about two hours, a little more for some departures. The guide speaks English, Spanish or Italian. In summer, bring a hat against the sun.
