Description
This Valpolicella winery tour and tasting is a visit to a family-run estate near San Pietro in Cariano, with a guide from the first step among the vines to the last glass.
It starts in the vineyard, where you see the ancient pergola system used to train the vines. Next comes the appassimento loft, where grapes are dried for the region's special wines, followed by the rest of the winery. Then comes the tasting of five wines from the estate's own production, among them:
- Valpolicella Classico
- Amarone
- sweet Passito
Alongside the wines come extra virgin olive oil and a plate with three different cheeses, salami and the local biscuits. While you taste, the guide talks about winemaking traditions, the harvest and the work in the cellar, so each wine comes with its own story.
Plan for roughly two hours for the tour and tasting. Transport to the winery is not included, so you need to arrange how to get there. The tour is not suitable for pregnant women or children under 18.
